Karine Aigner is a professional freelance photographer and picture editor. With over nine years of experience as the senior photo editor for National Geographic KIDS magazines and books, and, with freelance clients such as National Geographic Magazine, Rolex, Apple, The Nature Conservancy, ADA and others–Karine knows good imagery.
Being on both sides of the camera allows Karine a unique perspective. As a photographer Karine knows what it physically takes to make a good picture, and as an editor she can identify what creates a strong, engaging, ‘sense of place’ imagery.
Focused on wildlife and natural history photography, Karine has a keen eye for storytelling imagery and is always looking for new ways of showing the natural world to the world. An affiliate member of the International League of Conservation Photographers and a member of NANPA, Karine is a seasoned traveler and photography workshop leader–having brought groups to Africa and the Galapagos, and photographed subjects around the globe.
Karine’s photographic work is represented by Tandem Stills + Motion, and National Geographic Stock, and her images have been featured in BBC Wildlife, Africa Geographic, National Geographic Kids, Nature Conservancy Magazine, GEOlino, National Geographic Television, Ranger Rick and various other publications. Karine has been a judge, and a participant, in the Coastal Bend Wildlife Contest. Visit www.karineaigner.com
