Diane S. Smith

Diane Solether Smith is an educator, award-winning writer and art historian with a background in television and Distance Learning. Diane holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish Language from Southern Methodist University, advanced studies in Spanish Language and Culture from University of Texas San Antonio and a Diploma in Modern Art Studies from Christie’s Education and Cambridge University, London, England. Publications include The Armstrong chronicle: A Ranching History, recipient of the Ted Fehrenback Award for Ranch History, The Missions of San Antonio (An Educational Tour), and freelance contributions to a wide range of museum, botanical and conservation publications. A lifelong advocate for wildlife and land conservation, Diane has been an active member of Garden Club of America, participating on the conservation and legislative committees on local, zone and national levels.

She has served on the boards of directors of the San Antonio Botanical Society, the Southwest Foundation Forum and the Junior League of San Antonio. As a volunteer, Diane Smith was actively involved with ICF 2006 Pro-Tour of Nature Photography launch events, served as primary writer and copy editor for the inaugural book, Images for Conservation, Book One: Texas Hill Country Edition and curated the 2006 Pro-Tour Museum Exhibit.
