Photography Can Promote Conservation

If the Coastal Bend expects to capitalize on its label as the birdiest place on earth, we must have a plan to preserve and promote the wild places where these and other animals flourish. And any ecotourism plan for this area that does not include wildlife photography would be incomplete. I'm not just talking about inviting folks to snap pictures of blue herons and laughing gulls while wandering our bay shores and beaches. More than 90 percent of Texas is private land. So wouldn't it be smart to market the broad wildlife diversity at area ranches to a growing population of affluent nature photographers willing to travel great distances and pay for that elusive digital image of a javelina, a green jay or a rattlesnake?
