Gary has been photographing nature for three decades. From the beginning the assignments he is most passionate about are the ones where subjects are explored intensely over multi-year periods. His subject matter can be as varied as documenting (up close) the fascinating life cycles of monarch and swallowtail butterflies to challenging charging tigers in the wilds of Asia. Countless images are patiently captured over time building compelling visual records of his themes. Needless to say, this depth of dedication keeps Gary in the field nine days out of ten.
Working through large commercial photography agencies, Gary’s images have become a staple in the corporate and advertising worlds. Additional exposure for the artist has come with the publication of his photos in such important periodicals asNational Geographic, Audubon and Sierra Magazine. His work has been repeatedly recognized by his peers throughout his long career.
Today, Gary is pioneering a technique where multiple images shot sequentially are merged together into one panoramic whole. The results can superbly illustrate movement, behaviors or seasonal changes on a single photographic panel. The results are quite dramatic.
