"King penguin walking through colony"
I spent one day in a large breeding colony on South Georgia watching king penguins walking from their nest sites to the ocean or returning from the water back to their nests to feed the chicks. I tried to emphasize the movement by using a slow shutter speed.
"Giant River otter with fish"
While working on a story about giant river otters in Brazil I spent several weeks with one family. The animals, usually very shy and elusive, became so used to me after some time that I was able to witness their daily lives from a very close range, like this otter who came up from a dive only a few meters away from me, with a small catfish dangling from its mouth.
"Young elephant seals sparring"
In December the mating season for southern elephant seals is over and with it the opportunities to witness the frightening fights among huge males. However I was lucky to observe a playful fight between young bulls that gave me plenty of opportunities for some good action shots.
