Robert Franz gained a love for wildlife and nature at an early age.
Growing up in western Pennsylvania, he spent most of his time outdoors
roaming the hills and forests, hunting, fishing, backpacking, photographing,
bird watching, or any other reason to be outdoors. When leaving
for college to study wildlife management, his parents gave him his
first 35mm camera.
Robert
and his wife Lorri have been professional photographers of the natural
world since 1989. Their images have appeared in magazines, books,
newspapers, calendars, note cards, and advertising. Notable clients
include: Audubon Magazine, National Geographic, National Wildlife,
Nature's Best, Outdoor Life, Das Tier, Ranger Rick, and Sierra.
Advertising clients include: Cat Pumps, Frontier Airlines, General
Motors, Haas Outdoors, Mercury, Nikon and others.
In
addition to their photography, they have written and published numerous
articles pertaining to the outdoor lifestyle and natural history.
They were contributing editors for Rocky Mountain Outdoor Magazine.
They have done outdoor-oriented assignment work for numerous clients
which include: Field & Stream Magazine, Wildlife Conservation
Magazine, The Trust for Public Lands, Adolph Coors, Sprint,
Quest, The New York Times, and others. D. Robert won first
place in the 2004 Nature's Best photography contest and has won
numerous other awards.
Robert
& Lorri, along with their 2 dogs Maxi and Mackenzie, live in the
Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem outside of Cody, Wyoming, which they
consider a nature photographer's paradise.
