Florian
Schulz is a professional nature photographer based in southern Germany
whose striking images have garnered international recognition. He
studied Biology at the University of Heidelberg, which serves as
a great background for his nature photography. Florian spends eight
to ten months a year photographing in the field, focusing on long-term
conservation photography projects. Sponsored by the Blue Earth Alliance,
Florian has dedicated his entire time to his project on the "Yellowstone
to Yukon" (Y2Y) vision, one of the biggest conservation efforts
in North America.
His
book "Yellowstone to Yukon: Freedom to Roam", published by Mountaineers
Books, will be released on October 2005, followed by an outreach
campaign to promote the Y2Y vision.
Florian's
work has been published in magazines, books and calendar series.
Images and stories from extended travels through southern Africa
and the North American continent are featured in multimedia slideshows.
His photographs have won numerous awards in leading international
photography competitions such as BBC Wildlife Photographer of the
Year Competition, Nature's Best, GDT European Nature Photographer
of the Year and the Banff Mountain Photography Competition.
Passionate
about composition, lighting and drama to create stunning images,
getting the prefect photo is not all that counts. Florian hopes
to instill in viewers a greater interest in both the natural and
cultural diversity of the planet.
