26
years old biologist-photographer József L. Szentpéteri
began with drawing, but later turned to photography to be a more
versatile biologist.
During
the university years, he discovered a new orchid species in Greece
with his group mate, and developed a foundation for protecting and
multiplying threatened plant species.
He
received a master's degree in biology in Hungary, and then traveled
to the U.S. with a folk dancing scholarship and the main goal of
developing his photographic career. After receiving his first significant
photographic award, he developed relationships with Canon, members
of NANPA and National Geographic Magazine (NGM).
At
age 24 he covered his first story for NGM on mayflies, which also
was awarded at World Press Photo and published as a book. This story
guided him to his first filming experiences with Sir David Attenborough.
Currently
he is working on: numerous stories and books, his Ph.D., scientific
research programs, and teaching wildlife photography. His main goal
- as a teacher, scientist and photographer - is to make people think
and do something for nature conservancy.
