2010 Book Dedication

Images For Conservation Fund Proudly Announces the Book III: Borderlands of Laredo Texas Edition Dedicatee ~ Renato Ramirez.

Whether Renato Ramirez leads organizations, aids Mexican orphanages, facilitates scholarships for high school seniors, serves his community, or zealously promotes Images for Conservation Fund, he does so with passion. His actions consistently parallel the definition of the word philanthropy, which Webster's characterizes as "a desire to help mankind; benevolence." Repeatedly, this giver extraordinaire illustrates the many ways one can contribute: time, effort, support, energy, belief, encouragement, insight, your word.

Renato Ramirez has blessed ICF with all of the above. Since our concept first grabbed hold of his imagination, his efforts have tirelessly pushed forward our vision. From the moment his mind began to play with the possibilities, he's been one of our biggest advocates, sharing in our enthusiasm and intuiting the magic that comes from working together to preserve our wild spaces and their inhabitants.

You'll often find Renato surveying the wild spaces of his rancho from horseback. From his vantage point he basks in all the land offers: the silence, the cenizo, the thick-bodied slither of a black indigo, the sunflowers, the amusing jump of a jack rabbit, the feathery mesquite, but most importantly, the integrity that comes with its wholeness. Integrity is a quality Renato understands well and one that has helped shape his land ethic and his brand of philanthropy. Once his imagination unleashed conservation's promise, it illuminated how, by helping preserve the land and its life, Renato helps us all.

His boundless energy has gifted so many with so much, but he too has been gifted. For four decades his wife Patricia has helped provide an unrelenting foundation for this unrelenting doer. Together they've been blessed with three children and ten grandchildren, testament now to those future generations for whom the land is nurtured.

What better words to call Renato Ramirez to mind than these once spoken by Mother Teresa?: "It is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving." For certainly he is man who not only delights in the pursuit of his dreams, but takes joy in helping others pursue their own. He is a man with a remarkable talent for grabbing hold of dreams and moving them into the light of reality. To this fervent supporter of our aspirations we say, "Gracias. Muchisimas gracias por compartir nuestros sueƱos y por ayudarnos a traerlos a la luz."

The dedication of the Images For Conservation Fund Book Three, Borderlands of Laredo Edition was held on October 23, 2010 in Laredo.
