NANPA Community Recognition Award Presented to John Martin
March 23, 2011 (Wheat Ridge, Colorado): The North American Nature Photography Associationheld its annual Nature Photography Summit and Trade Show at the McAllen Convention Center in McAllen, Texas from March 9-13, 2011. During the Saturday evening Awards Celebration on March 12, President, Susan Day presented John Martin of Edinburg, Texas with the NANPA Community Recognition Award. This award is given to a supplier of services or products to the photo industry, either a company or specific individual. It recognizes outstanding service to the nature photography world beyond what one might expect and acknowledges those who have revolutionized nature photography.
John Martin, Founder and Chairman of the Images for Conservation Fund based in the Rio Grande Valley, was honored for his vision and support of nature photography. The Images for Conservation photo tournaments, programs and economic incentives encourage private landowners to restore, preserve, and enhance wildlife habitat. It instructs private landowners how to maximize benefit from their land’s wildlife through photography and provides educational opportunities for adults and children. It features photography as a visual voice for nature, featuring award-winning images in books and exhibitions for the public’s education and enjoyment.
John Martin joins a distinguished group of past recipients including: Adobe Systems, Inc., Blue Earth Alliance, Lowepro, Rosamund Kidman-Cox, LightHawk, Nature’s Best Photography Magazine, The Nature Conservancy, Hasselblad USA, Inc, Nikon, Inc.
