Larry Wheeler’s interest in photography began at an early age when he was hired as night photographer for a small town Oklahoma newspaper. Larry was fortunate enough to be tutored by the paper’s chief photographer who was not only an excellent photographer, but also an outstanding and enthusiastic teacher.
Larry’s passion for creating strong, meaningful and exciting images has continued to grow over the years, with his primary focus being nature and wildlife photography. Fortunately, over the past 10 years, he has been able to spend much more time pursuing his passion and sharing what he has learned with others.
In the past six years, Larry has been developing and leading photo safaris to a variety of exciting venues that afford diverse opportunities for landscape and nature and wildlife photography. His trips provide participants with opportunity to learn and utilize solutions to the varied challenges associated with capturing good images, while emphasizing the importance of respect and understanding for the various wildlife and their environments.
When not leading photo safaris or visiting potential venues for future photography outings, Larry can typically be found at Houston Camera Exchange helping folks with equipment selections.
