Peaceful Springs Nature Preserve, LLC covers 530 acres of untouched wilderness, surrounded on three sides by more than 3,000 acres belonging to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. The Preserve is located in southeastern Burnet county, northwest of Austin, Texas.
Steep canyons and rolling hills offer breathtaking views of the blue-gray hills beyond. Thick woodlands, including a dense grove of native Texas Walnut trees, grow along the creek and lake edges. Located in the recharge zone for the Northern Edwards Aquifer, Peaceful Springs Nature Preserve, LLC plays a vital role in watershed protection. In the recharge zone, porous and permeable Edwards Limestone is exposed at the surface, providing a direct path fot water to reach the underground artesian zone. Streams and rainfall percolate directly into the underground water system through fractures, sinkholes and caves.
Peaceful Springs Nature Preserve, LLC is building a pavilion with handicap access to picnic and gathering areas, a kitchen and restroom facilities. The property is available by special arrangement to scout troops, handicapped children, birders and non-profit groups for specialized studies and exploration.
